The U.S. to Assess Potential Energy Resources in Ukraine

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko signed an agreement assigning the U.S. Geological Survey to assess potential energy resources in Ukraine, primarily the shale gas reserves.
Discussion also included the issue of cooperation on nuclear security and non-proliferation.
The meeting also covered democracy and the rule of law, ways to improve Ukrainian investment climate, economic reform, trade, investment, science and technology.
Clinton and Hryshchenko also plan to meet with civil society groups from Ukraine.
